About Us
Founded on March 21, 2001 by the late Robert J. "Bob" Anderson, we are a statewide network of survivors, patients, caregivers, and concerned citizens working together to support high quality care for all men at risk of developing prostate cancer or living with a prostate cancer diagnosis. We are an all volunteer 501c3 non-profit.
We invite all interested and concerned parties to join us!
We collaborate with all of our state's NIH National Cancer Institute (NCI) academic research centers (Duke Cancer Institute, UNC-Chapel Hill, and Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center) to support translation of new research into knowledge for those coping with prostate cancer. We are also working with community cancer centers throughout the state to assure prostate cancer outreach and support services (including multidisciplinary cancer clinics) are readily available to the citizens of North Carolina. Other partnerships include primary care physicians affiliated with the NC Academy of Family Physicians and the NC Community Health Centers Association.
Our participation with the National Alliance of State Prostate Cancer Coalitions (NASPCC) affords us the opportunity to meet annually with leaders of other state prostate cancer coalitions and serves as a gateway to scientific information and presentations featured at some of the country's leading medical conferences. This includes the American Society for Clinical Oncology Genitourinary (ASCO GU) Cancers Symposium and the American Urological Association (AUA) Annual Meeting. In addition to this, the NASPCC President serves as the patient advocate for the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Early Detection Research Network (EDRN) assuring that we maintain access to information about the many advances in screening and diagnosis of prostate cancer.
